Planning family portraits can be such an ordeal. Not only are you looking through outfits, picking out styles, and scheduling haircuts, but you also have to consider where the heck you are going to take these pics. After all, if you are going to go through all this work, you don’t want your session to get ruined by a bad backdrop. If you could use a little help, I have you covered! As an Atlanta family photographer, I get the chance to work with parents to plan stress-free photo sessions (no, seriously!). If you are looking for photoshoot locations in Atlanta, here are the spots I always recommend!
7938 Ball Ground Road, Cumming, Georgia 30028

For those wanting something a little rustic and outside of Atlanta proper, West Milford Farm is your photoshoot location! This Cumming space has become a favorite for weddings, live music performances, and photo sessions. Throughout your pics, you’ll have open fields, lush plants, greenhouse, tree swing, open fields and even wildflowers a few months out of the year. Since it is a wedding venue, they only allow photography sessions Monday through Thursday.

Located in the midst of Lawrenceville, Prospect Farms feels like it was built just to be a photoshoot location for Atlanta families. Typically they are closed Monday and Tuesday.

Mayberry Acres takes you back through the pages of history, offering you a picturesque farm amidst seven private acres. This barn offers a classic charcoal barn as well as a structure made from reclaimed wood, a rustic white barn, logwall, tire swing, white greenhouse and more. The owners regularly partner with photographers across the area, offering individual sessions that celebrate this truly stunning space! They also offer farm animals as well for some sessions.

The Vine is an Atlanta area location that was actually built for photoshoots! This property is on seven acres and offers both interior and exterior backdrops for your portraits. 2277 Martha Berry Hwy NW, Mount Berry, Georgia 30149

Berry College is one of my favorite spots to plan photo sessions! This beautiful campus features old-world architecture, lush lawns, and tree-lined walkways. The grounds feature over 27,000 acres, but have a very low student enrollment rate, so you won’t find huge crowds throughout your session. Trust me, there’s a reason why films and television love using this for a filming site!
