Atlanta Bump to Baby: Why Documenting Pregnancy Matters

The journey into motherhood is unlike any other. One minute, you’re sitting there watching your baby do backflips in your belly, and the next, you are chasing around the most giggly toddler! It’s such a fast process that you need a way to cherish each and every moment. As an Atlanta newborn and maternity photographer, I spend a lot of time chatting with parents about the importance of planning regular photo sessions. If you have been wondering why you should be documenting pregnancy, I’m here to tell you why capturing every stage matters!

4 Reasons You Need To Be Documenting Pregnancy

It Goes By So Quick

When you are in the midst of your third trimester, you get the feeling that you have been pregnant forever. Yes, it does feel like an eternity when you are battling things like restless nights and constant heartburn, but trust me. In about a year, you will feel as though it was a simple blink of your eye! By documenting your pregnancy, you can have memories of how that little blueberry-sized baby grew into a cantaloupe-sized baby before becoming that perfect little person you are holding right now!

Don’t Miss a Second of the Journey

No amount of books or podcasts can prepare you for what it’s like to actually become a mother. There are times when you’ll feel your heart swell so much with love that you think it might actually burst. There are nights when you are so desperate for sleep, you’ll wonder if you are just fated to be awake for the rest of your life. This road is lovely and tenuous and always chaotic, but it’s one you will treasure long after your baby isn’t so little anymore. So by documenting your pregnancy, even if you are exhausted, you will still be able to look back and ensure you never miss a second of the joy.

Something to Share With Your Future Generations

One of my favorite things to do is look back on pictures of former generations and learn all about the story of my family. There is so much that can be captured through photo sessions that will reach far beyond you. The pictures that you schedule for documenting pregnancy now will be the ones your child someday shows their children. They are going to love having this little slice of history that captures a truly precious time in your lives!

Celebrate YOU

I know you don’t need me to tell you this, but your body is doing the most right now! You are going through constant changes as you prepare to meet your adorable little one. You have a sore back, an exhausted body, and swollen feet; you should honestly have a Crocs endorsement deal. On one hand, you might feel overwhelmed at the idea of posing for portraits. On the other hand, think of this as your time to be celebrated! Spend some time pampering yourself and feeling gorgeous. Then, once the photos arrive, hang them up and show them off. You deserve the chance to recognize all the amazing work your body is doing long before those contractions start!
